Grand Throne Event

Seize the Throne for glory and fame!

Created by

Andrew Knight

The Grand Throne Event presents a royal opportunity for Guilds who are ready to seize fame and glory! In this high stakes Player vs. Player Event occurring every two weeks, you and your Guild will be tasked with claiming the Grand Throne, which rests in the middle of the Scarred Lands in the center of your Realm - hold it for 4 consecutive hours to win, allowing your Guild’s Leader to assign the new Ruler of the Realm! Ruling the Realm provides the ability to perform special actions throughout the Realm called Royal Powers, apply Titles to other players in the Realm called Royal Spells, and award your most loyal companions with Royal Chests!

The Grand Throne Event can only be won by Guilds with immaculate planning, communication, and execution. If you wish to claim dominion on your Realm, ensure that your Guild is properly prepared for the fight of their lives!

This Overview has two primary sections - Grand Throne Event will cover the structure and rules of the Event, how combat for the Grand Throne works, and Event Rewards; Royal Palace will cover everything you need to know about Ruling the Realm after the Grand Throne Event has ended.

This Event provides a substantial opportunity for renown (or notoriety) and accomplishment. We will initially be releasing it to a select few Realms to evaluate it before expanding to more Realms. If it is not available in your Realm yet, stay tuned! Even if it isn’t available for you and your Realm yet, you’re going to want to participate when it arrives. Make sure to learn the ins and outs of this Event so you’re prepared!

Grand Throne Event

Summary

  • The first Grand Throne Event will coincide with the Hold the Throne Realm Advancement Stage, and following Grand Throne Events will take place every two weeks (on weekends). You will see a Countdown Timer in your Events to give you and your Guild time to prepare when a Grand Throne Event is coming soon. Each Grand Throne Event will run for 8 hours.

  • When the Grand Throne Event first becomes visible and the countdown begins, all players that have Cities stationed in the Scarred Lands will be randomly Teleported away; players will then be unable to Teleport back into the Scarred Lands until 15 minutes before the Event begins. Players that were Teleported out of the Scarred Lands during the Countdown period will receive a Basic Teleport.

  • The very first time the Grand Throne opens, you’ll find that it is protected by a Magitek Overseer (PvE) - defeat the Magitek Overseer to become the first Guild to seize control of the Throne! This is referred to as the ‘Magitek Overseer (PvE) Phase’. The Magitek Overseer Phase only occurs for the very first Grand Throne Event, and future Grand Throne Events will begin with the Grand Throne unoccupied.

  • Once a Guild has taken the Grand Throne from the Magitek Overseer, all other Guilds in the Realm can begin fighting for control of the Grand Throne. This is referred to as the ‘Fight (PvP) Phase’.

  • The Grand Throne Event will last for 8 Hours. If a Guild controls the Grand Throne for 4 consecutive hours, they will automatically win the Event and the Event will end. If no Guilds are able to control the Grand Throne for 4 consecutive hours, then the Guild with the longest cumulative control time over the entire 8 Hour period will win control of the Grand Throne. In either case, the winning Guild’s Leader will have one hour to assign the Ruler of the Realm when the Event has ended. If they do not assign a Ruler, then the winning Guild’s Leader will automatically be assigned as Ruler. Read the ‘Crowning the Ruler of the Realm’ section below for more details.

  • If a player’s City is stationed inside the Scarred Lands during the Grand Throne Event and their City is attacked and defeated, they will be Teleported away from the Scarred Lands.

  • There are 4 Grand Towers surrounding the Grand Throne that play an important role in the PvP Phase. If Grand Towers are controlled by enemies of the Guild controlling the Grand Throne, they will periodically attack the Troops in the Grand Throne. Each Grand Tower Attack will wound 2% of the Troops that are reinforcing the Grand Throne! Grand Towers that are controlled by the same Guild that has control of the Grand Throne will not attack the Grand Throne.

  • Players are limited to sending 1 Lead March when leading an attack on or defending the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower - this does not apply to joining other Rallies or Reinforcing. All Marches that travel through the Scarred Lands are much slower than regular Marches.

  • There can only be one Ruler of the Realm after a Grand Throne Event has concluded, but there are still lots of valuable rewards up for grabs by participating in the Event - there is a role for everyone to play in this epic crusade for sovereignty!

Fighting For and Controlling The Grand Throne/Grand Towers

In a Realm’s first Grand Throne Event, the Grand Throne is protected by a powerful PvE called the Magitek Overseer. Send Marches with your Guild to defeat it - the player that deals the killing blow will take control of the Grand Throne! Grand Towers are locked and cannot be controlled until the Magitek Overseer is defeated.

Once the Magitek Overseer is defeated and a player has taken the Grand Throne, it’s go time - all Guilds in the Realm can engage in combat for the Grand Throne and Grand Towers at this point!

Important Terminology: The following terms are important in understanding how combat for the Grand Throne and Grand Towers works.

  • A Lead March is a solo March or Rally that a player is leading.

  • The Lead Occupier is the Lead Marcher who takes control of the Grand Throne or Grand Tower with a Lead March. This player determines the Reinforcement Capacity of the Grand Throne or Grand Tower for their Guild, based on their Rally Capacity (detailed later in this list). This Reinforcement Capacity will not change as long as the same Guild continues to control the occupied Grand Throne or Grand Tower.

  • The Current Occupier is the player that is currently in control of the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower. This starts with the Lead Occupier - if the Lead Occupier recalls their Troops or is evicted by all of their Troops being defeated, then the Lead Occupier will transfer ownership to the Reinforcing Occupier (detailed in this list) that arrived soonest after the Lead Occupier. The Current Occupier is able to disband all occupying Troops. This same process will occur with any subsequent Current Occupier.

  • Reinforcing Occupiers are all other Guild Members with Troops in an occupied Grand Throne or Grand Tower.

  • Rally Capacity is the Capacity of Troops that a player can have for their guild when starting a rally - this number is determined by combining all acquired March Size and Rally Capacity bonuses from Heroes active in the rally and their Levels, Skill Tree progression, Research, Temporary Buffs, etc.

  • March Capacity is the maximum number of Troops a player can send on a solo March.

Attacking: Coordinate your attacks, and overwhelm with force!

  • Send Marches & Rallies to burn whoever is holding the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower - you’ll need to wipe out every defense and kill all Troops in the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower in order to take control.

  • Players can only send 1 Lead March total when attacking the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower, so it is important to coordinate with your Guild and develop a sound strategy when competing in this Event. Spread out and execute a plan!

  • Joining a Guild Member’s Rally is not considered a Lead March, meaning there is no limit to joining other Rallies.

Defending: Seize your target and hold it as long as you can!

  • Only one player can be the Current Occupier of the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower, and this player is considered to be defending. Similar to attacking, players can only send 1 Lead March while defending a Grand Throne or Grand Tower.

  • Guilds should choose their player with the highest Rally Capacity to defend the Grand Throne, as the Lead Occupier will set the Reinforcement Capacity for the entire time a Guild controls it. Reinforcement Capacity dictates how many TOTAL Troops a Guild can have at the Grand Throne. You cannot Attack the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower if you are already defending.

Reinforcing: Players that Reinforce the Grand Throne or Grand Tower occupied by their Guild are called Reinforcing Occupiers. While you cannot send more than 1 Lead March to attack or while defending the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower, you can send Reinforcements to your Guild Members as much as you can, with two limitations.

  • You cannot Reinforce with a number of Troops that exceed the Reinforcement Capacity set by the Lead Occupier - excess Troops will return to the Reinforcing player.

  • You cannot exceed your own March Capacity in a single Reinforcement.

Grand Towers

There are 4 Grand Towers surrounding the Grand Throne, and holding these are crucial for success in this Event. If Grand Towers are controlled by enemies of the Guild controlling the Grand Throne, they will periodically attack the Troops in the Grand Throne!

  • Each attacking Grand Tower will wound 2% of the Troops that are reinforcing the Grand Throne with each attack.

  • The intervals between Grand Tower attacks starts at 5 minutes, and this timer will shorten depending on how long the Grand Tower has been held for - a 100% increase of attack speed will reduce the firing rate to every 2.5 minutes.

  • There will be a timer above each Grand Tower indicating the next time it will attack the Grand Throne.

Combat Strategies, Tips & Extra Tidbits

  • Send Rallies & Marches to aid your Guild Members.

  • Send reinforcements to the Grand Throne or Grand Towers that are already controlled by your Guild - the Grand Throne and each Grand Tower can individually hold a maximum of 20 Guild Members.

  • If your Guild takes control of the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower while other Attacking Marches from your Guild are still on their way there, those Attacking Marches will automatically become Reinforcing Marches.

  • Troops participating in Grand Throne combat will either be Wounded, Lightly Wounded, or Standing when combat is resolved, meaning your Troops cannot be killed when fighting for the Grand Throne. The exception to this rule is based on your Hospital’s Capacity - Wounded Troops from Grand Throne combat can be killed if your Capacity is at full.

  • Use Single Taps to select the Grand Throne, Grand Towers, or other Map objects, and use Double Taps to select individual March lines! The Double Tap feature will only work if nothing else is selected.

  • Do your best to obtain and increase Grand Throne-related combat boosts! These can often be found in Sale Bundles, or attached to other features (like Heroes, Buildings, and more).

Grand Throne Event

There are a variety of actions that all players can take in order to score points during the Grand Throne Event! Some actions will provide more points than others.

  • Kill a Troop at the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower
  • Wound a Troop at the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower
  • Have a Troop killed at the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower
  • Have a Troop wounded at the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower
  • Hold the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower
  • Every occupation at the Grand Throne or a Grand Tower

Powerful prizes are up for grabs in each Grand Throne Event! Check each of the Rewards tabs on your Grand Throne Event page during the Event to see what you can win for your efforts. Milestone Rewards are based on your individual contribution towards the Grand Throne, and you will receive those rewards at the end of the Event for each milestone that you hit. Leaderboard Rewards are reserved for the most powerful participants in the Grand Throne Event, and are also awarded at the end of the Event, based on placement.

Viewing the Grand Throne

Tap on the Grand Throne → View to access details about your Realm’s Grand Throne. This screen is divided into four tabs:

  • Status will display the Status of the Grand Throne with the Grand Throne’s Current Occupier, Control Rankings that detail Total Control Time of all participants, and access to your Grand Throne Event Points, the Solo Leaderboard, and Milestone Rewards. You can also access the Royal Palace from here.

  • War Archive will provide a log of occupants that have battled for the Grand Throne during an Event, sorted by descending order of the most recent occupant of the Grand Throne. Information on this tab is only available during a Grand Throne Event.

  • Towers will display the status and ownership of each of the four Grand Towers.

  • Lineage provides a log of the current and past Rulers of the Realm, sorted by descending order starting with the most recent Ruler. Each Lineage entry will include their order in succession, their Avatar, name, and Guild name, and the date of their Control Time.

Royal Palace

When a Grand Throne Event has ended, the winning Guild’s Leader will become the new Ruler of the Realm! The Ruler of the Realm will then begin their Reign, allowing them to perform special actions in the Royal Palace until the next Grand Throne Event begins.

Viewing the Royal Palace

The Royal Palace is viewable to all players in the Realm, but only the current Ruler of the Realm can take actions within it. To view the Royal Palace, tap on the Grand Throne on the World Map → View → Royal Palace (centered yellow button). Here you can see the current Ruler of the Realm, and tapping on ‘Titles’ will display the Blessings and Curses that have been bestowed upon players within the Realm, their benefits, and more. Tapping on ‘Action Logs’ will show active Royal Powers in the Realm, and tapping on ‘Royal Chests’ will allow you to view Royal Chests and who they’ve been awarded to.

Crowning the Ruler of the Realm

At the conclusion of a Grand Throne Event, the winning Guild’s Leader will have 1 hour to assign the new Ruler of the Realm. To assign the new Ruler, the winning Guild’s Leader must access the Royal Palace and tap the yellow ‘Assign’ button that appears next to the countdown timer - this button will bring up a menu that allows them to officially appoint a member of their Guild (if not themselves) as the new Ruler of the Realm.

If the winning Guild’s Leader does not assign a Ruler of the Realm within 1 Hour, that Guild Leader will automatically be assigned as the new Ruler.

If a current Ruler leaves their Guild, then they will no longer be Ruler and will lose the ability to take actions in the Royal Palace as Ruler; this also holds true if the player is the R5/Leader. If this occurs, the Throne will be empty until a new Ruler is crowned after the next Grand Throne Event. All Royal Powers, Blessings, and Curses that were active before a Ruler leaves their Guild will remain active until their natural timers expire or until the next Grand Throne Event.

Royal Spells

Royal Spells are special benefits (friendly or harmful) that can be applied to specific players within the Ruler’s Realm, divided into two types; Blessings and Curses. The Ruler of the Realm can place each Blessing and Curse upon a single player within the Realm, with the following rules:

  • Royal Spells last until they are bestowed to someone else, a player with a Royal Spell is bestowed a different Royal Spell, or when the Ruler's Reign ends and a new Grand Throne Event begins.

  • Each Royal Spell has a 24 hour cooldown until it can be bestowed to a new player.

  • If a player has a Royal Spell and another one is bestowed, the old Royal Spell is removed.

  • If a player is bestowed with a Royal Spell that was already in use, the previous player loses that Royal Spell.

  • A player that has been granted a Royal Spell will have their chat bubble changed to indicate which Royal Spell they have been bestowed with.

  • Royal Spells can be bestowed by the Ruler of the Realm from within the Royal Palace or directly from a player’s Profile.

The following Blessings can be bestowed upon those that the Ruler of the Realm has deemed loyal to the Crown:

These can only be awarded to players once per Reign, so Rulers should be selective about who they wish to award their Royal Chests. Rulers can award the following:

  • 1x Royal Hero Chest
  • 5x Royal Defender Chests
  • 15x Royal Support Chests

Royal Chests (and who the Chests have been awarded to) can be viewed by all players in the Royal Palace; the Ruler of the Realm can also award them via this screen in the Royal Palace. If the Ruler wishes to award a player that is not in their Guild, however, they will need to access that player’s profile directly. To view the specific contents of each Royal Chest, tap on the ‘i’ button associated with a specific Royal Chest.
